A REMEMBRANCE MAY 25 (memorial)

One of our young men from Santa Rosa County died fighting in the Battle of the Bulge in 1944.

OD Harris was one of the younger brothers of the Harris family.  His youngest brother, Hoover Harris held possession of his posthumous purple heart - hoping to find a way to honor him in memoriam.

Mrs. Lillian (Cook) Harris who was widowed in recent years, has taken his wishes to heart and found members of the Harris family who will help to transfer  to the Jay Museum-- with honors -- this symbol of sacrifice.

On May 25 and 11 AM  this service and ceremony with take place. Kirby Harris is the presenter of the medal and materials. He is the grand-nephew of OD Harris.

More information in these files....

We will also recognized others whose lives were given in service
in our nation's wars. But this ceremony is especially
to preserve this remembrance.
